Hi, I love this; you did a really great job putting the facts out there, and it's quite heartwarming. Even though I'm part of a younger generation, I feel like it will be the fault of the Japanese if we let this culture die. Spreading knowledge about the Ainu culture/history to non-Japanese people has become my "part-time job", haha. So needless to say, I really enjoyed reading such a informative post.

Thank you, Kimi. This was VERY engaging for me, someone not usually much interested in others' travels (They're usually either dry as dust 3rd-person encyclopedia citings or else me-me-me solipsisms.)

It was close to being there, for me. YES to your pics, so well illustrating what I'd've had a little trouble visualizing otherwise: the black eggs, the toilet trough, and all.

Lovely lovely post, Kimi. I am very glad you had good encounters with the locals when you were in South East Asia. Of course there are exceptions to any rule - there are undoubtedly folks there who are not as honest/well meaning. But yes, I do agree with you that by and large, South East Asians are a warm, helpful, and friendly lot.

Very much looking forward to your other posts. Do show us your take of Melaka, Taman Negara, and more of Singapore!

Excellent post, Kimi. Thank you for sharing a bit of your trip to Bali. I have very fond memories of Bali. It is indeed a magnificent island populated by wonderful people.

Ah... the luwak coffee. I tried it for the first time earlier this year, and have to admit, the taste wasn't entirely to my liking. And this was before I realized what kind of coffee I was actually drinking!

I really enjoyed reading about your job, Kimi. The pictures are priceless - look at that Pantene and Suave lining the bathtub!
